TRADITIONAL BOGOTAS DISH: BUÑUELOS BOGOTANOS.
INSTRUCCIONES
Colombian buñuelos are very different from the buñuelos we are used to eat here in Mexico. Personally, these little balls of flavor remind me a lot of a delicacy that I knew in Brazil that they call cheese bread and they normally consume it for breakfast.
INGREDIENTS:
vegetable oil for frying
¾ cup cornstarch
¼ cup of yucca flour
1 cup grated feta or costeño cheese
½ cup of fresh cheese
2 eggs
¼ teaspoon baking powder
2 tablespoons of sugar
a pinch of salt
1 tablespoon of milk
INSTRUCTIONS:
Place all ingredients except oil in a medium bowl and mix well with your hands until smooth and balls form.
In a very deep pot, heat the vegetable oil to 300°F. Carefully place the balls in the hot oil. Cover the pot and after about 3 to 4 minutes, raise the temperature and fry until golden brown.Remove the balls from the oil and drain on a plate covered with paper towels.
Accompany them with a good Colombian coffee and enjoy!
