Mongolia

The land of blue sky

In today’s episode we go to the land of blue sky and one of the least populated countries on the planet, Mongolia. We will be accompanied as always by our guide Fabiola, a Mexican Sign Language interpreter, and before flying with the power of imagination and power enjoy this journey, I want to tell you that what we are looking for in this podcast, by the way, the only one in Mexico dedicated to the community that lives with any type of hearing disability, is first of all to create a community that helps and to be able to raise funds so that people with hearing problems have the help they need. It is also a project that seeks to give you a space to learn about different stories, cultures, uses, customs, music, art and gastronomy from around the world and learn something new in each episode.

episode transcription

Hello, it is a pleasure to greet you, I am Yael Yancelson and today we fly quickly with the power of imagination and the senses to discover one of the last nomadic societies in the world, we arrive in Mongolia, one of the brightest tourist jewels in Central Asia, so breathe, give me your hand, let me guide you and we will begin!!

All Latin Americans need visas to travel to Mongolia. It can be online or upon arrival it is processed at the Genghis Khan International Airport, in Ulan Batar. Do not forget!

Now we land and visit numerous historical monuments, living witnesses of the power of a lost empire. It is interesting to see how the majority of Mongolia’s natural spaces have not been touched by the hand of man, which will allow us to get to know the virgin nature.

The capital of the ancient Mongol Empire: Karakorum was built in the 13th century, it is hidden among the green hills and mountain ranges of the Orkhon Valley. Today it is home to a modern city, in the center of which are the ruins of ancient Karakorum. Let’s enter the temple of the Erdene Zuu Buddhist monastery to see stone sculptures of turtles, as well as the remains of an ancient palace, pottery kilns and workshops of crafts.

The largest Buddhist temple is the Gandantegchinlen Monastery, in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. The monastery has existed since the beginning of the 19th century. The temple complex’s extensive grounds include a library with 50,000 religious books, a Buddhist school, prayer areas and many Buddha statues. You can see the giant statue of the Goddess of Mercy, it is 26 meters high. I love emerald tile roofs!!

Get ready to go to the Gobi Desert, which is undoubtedly the country’s main natural attraction, it has an area of approximately 1.5 million square kilometers and extends along the border with China. It is home to camels, Przewalski horses, wild birds, and in the Bayanzag canyon you can admire real landscapes that seem from another planet. Observe the rocks that seem to burn with reddish fire, which is actually due to the special color of the clay. We got on an SUV to advance through the dune area known as Khongoryn Els and, just like in the deserts of Morocco or India, the stay with the nomads includes camel rides, walks and meals.

We will see DALANDZADGAD archaeological zone that is located south of the desert and is one of the places where the greatest number of remains of skeletons and dinosaur eggs were found. Can you imagine those times?

We must stay in the ger tent, it is a home used by nomads in the steppes of Central Asia. Different peoples have used this type of housing since ancient times. In the Middle Ages, nomadic life forced them to have a home for their constant movements. This tent was protected by a thick cover, was easy to transport and optimal to withstand the intense climatic changes of Mongolia and Siberia.

Wow, what a spectacle we will see when night falls, the stars come out to play. The billions of stars in the Milky Way look so close and so clear that it seems possible to hold them with your hands.

Now we will go to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, one of the largest national parks in Mongolia that extends for thousands of kilometers. There are more than 300 different species of birds and animals and 1,200 species of plants. Let’s enjoy the incredible rock formations that look like sculptures of humans and animals. But this resemblance is not made by man, but has been created by the erosion of granite. The symbol of the park is the Melkhii-Khad, which is the rock in the shape of a giant turtle. And within the reserve you can find true nomad camps and camel farms.

And this is how we leave this beautiful and interesting region of the planet with the desire to return. We will travel every week to another corner of this wonderful world, to discover, enjoy and fly with the imagination, I wait for you every Friday with different content and I ask you to If you like the content, share it with your friends and give me a like and a review of your comments because with that you help me a lot to raise the ranking of this podcast, ALTERNATIVE REALITY A UNIQUE AND DIFFERENT SPACE THAT CREATES COMMUNITY. We make a difference. And as I always tell you when helping others, we mainly help ourselves. If you want to know what the Includeme foundation does for the labor and social integration of people living with intellectual disabilities, go to the link: www. includesme.org and if you are moved and interested, check out how you can support this interesting project.

I’ll tell you a little about how hearing disability is an invisible and little understood disability.

What is lost is the ability to understand oral language and be able to

communicate with the other person in that language.

There are many reasons why a person can lose their hearing, it can

lose at birth or during their life. And there are many ways to communicate when living with a hearing disability, the option of oralization with the help of technology, that is, hearing aids or the cochlear implant and the support of language therapies or the use of Mexican sign language in both options is It is extremely important to involve the entire family 100% to support each other and understand how to communicate with the person living with the disability.

It is important to emphasize that in this podcast we cover all types of hearing disabilities and that is why we have an LSM interpreter, a complete transcript of the episode on the website and subtitles on the YT channel. Well, it is so that everyone can enjoy each of the trips, which is why it also has accessible and inclusive navigation, unique in our country.

We want this project to reach many people to achieve the objective, so it is extremely important that you subscribe to the YouTube channel, activate the notification bell at https://youtube.com/@realityalternativaincluyente everything together and with lowercase letters, which Make comments on the page and share this project with all your people, the more it grows, the more we can help and that is what interests us most at RA. We have valuable information on the page with AMAOIR capsules that can help you learn more about ear care.

I found that With a view to expanding inclusive education for children with disabilities, the Government of Mongolia is gradually implementing measures such as offering an additional bonus to teachers who work with children with disabilities, providing professional training and re-education for teachers and other staff school in inclusive enrollment methods and develop training methods and prepare textbooks, since 2006, 101 teachers have completed the professional reconversion program for pedagogy of children with special needs, in 2018 the Faculty of Special Education of the National University was founded of Education of Mongolia and about 100 students enrolled there.

Now if you like cooking, click the button and if not, keep traveling.

Mongolian food is not characterized by flavor, but on the contrary, it is very simple. In general, the dishes consist of boiled meat with large amounts of fat and flour, and some rice or legumes. The main meat is mutton and yak. In some regions of the country they eat horse meat, I honestly don’t dare eat it and you?

One of the most consumed dishes is buzz, which is a dough filled with meat and steamed. They look like Chinese dumplings, but with a very different flavor and that is what we will cook today.

The classic drink is tea with milk and salt, called süütei tsai (salted tea). It is very common to be offered it when entering a house, especially in the steppe gers.

Nomads widely consume a drink called airag, which is fermented horse milk with 3% alcohol. If that drink is distilled, they produce shimiin arkhi, with 12% alcohol. Some make it with hare and yak milk.

I want to thank Fabiola Ruiz Bedolla, our Mexican Sign Language interpreter and her entire team of collaborators, as well as a very special thank you to Mercedes Obregón, director of the Pedagogical Institute for Language Problems, IPPLIAP. Thank you for joining this project and to all of you for making it possible! Until next time.

EILAT, ISRAEL

the shores of the Red Sea

In today’s episode we are going to visit a city where the sun does not rest, Eilat in the south of Israel, accompanied by our guide Fabiola, an interpreter of Mexican Sign Language and before flying with the power of imagination and being able to enjoy this tour I want to tell you that what we are looking for in this podcast, which is the only one in Mexico dedicated especially to all people who live with some type of hearing disability, is first of all to create a community that helps and to be able to raise funds so that people with hearing problems audition has the help it needs. It is also a project that seeks to give you a space to learn about different histories, cultures, uses, customs, music, art and gastronomy from around the world and learn something new in each episode.

Hello, I’m glad to greet you, I’m Yael Yancelson and today we fly quickly with the power of imagination and senses to the shores of the Red Sea, welcome to Eilat. so breathe, give me your hand, let me guide you and let’s start!!

episode transcription

This Israeli city is relatively young. In fact, its construction is due to David Ben Gurion, Israeli prime minister in the 50’s. However, this city was built in the area of the port of Esyon-Geber founded by the reign of Solomon, in the tenth century BC. C.Eilat was a great strategic point, both commercial and military, during the War of Independence due to its location, bordering Egypt and Jordan.

Sitting down to rest on the city’s beaches, you will be able to see Jordan on the other side of the Red Sea. And, in case you want to enjoy one of the most amazing landscapes and see Egypt, you can also do it, just by climbing a little one of the mountains you will see a part of our neighboring country.

Currently, Eilat is a cosmopolitan city and one of the country’s great tourist enclaves because, despite being next to the Negev desert, one of the driest on the planet, its location by the sea gives it mild temperatures throughout the year. With activities for all tastes and abilities -sports, relaxation, nightlife, gastronomy, culture-, the city of Eilat is a very fun destination for the whole family.

To rest, nothing better than enjoying a day at the beach. Eilat has a 10 km long coastline that surrounds the Red Sea. Some of the most outstanding beaches are Dolphin Reef, Princess, Mosch or Hananya.

In the waters that bathe the Israeli city of Eilat you can practice endless water activities. Among them, swimming with long-beaked dolphins in the open sea stands out. If we go near the border with Egypt, in the Red Sea, divers will be able to enjoy an enclave that cannot be missed: a strain reserve of more than 1 .2 km long. Endless species of colorful fish and precious corals live in this natural enclave. And without fear of being mistaken, I believe that it is the main attraction of Eilat, where you can admire the beauty of nature both on the surface and underwater. From the observation deck you can see four countries at once: Israel, Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. And now we will make a descent to 6 meters deep into pools with turtles, rays and sharks to explore the underwater world, observe its inhabitants and even see divers feeding the fish. The Marine Park Observatory is a conservation center, aquarium , and public park and houses more than 800 species.

Now how about taking a walk through the Red Canyon. This fascinating natural area is about 20 kilometers from Eilat and can be reached by car or bicycle. Red Canyon features narrow passageways with high red sandstone walls, intricate shapes and incredibly picturesque scenery and we will make several breaks for photos, beautiful and unusual. From there we go to Timna National Park which also offers dizzying landscapes, reddish walled corridors up to 850 meters high, picturesque stone figures with their own names and even a lake where you can ride a catamaran. For many travelers, and continuing with the adventures Less than 30 kilometers from Eilat is the impressive Negev desert. Going through it on a camel, on horseback, on foot or on a Segway is a unique experience in which being reunited with nature is the prize. we go to the camel ranch as Camel riding in Eilat is a fun and traditional way to explore the landscape, at sunset through Wadi Shlomo and Tzfachot, then we will relax for a while in a Bedouin tent while having a cup of naana tea and we eat a light dinner with this unique and delicious bread called laffa.

And to finish with a lot of fun and adrenaline we go to the tayelet, which is the promenade and we get on the Yaniv FireBall Eilat, an attraction for the most adventurous of 80 meters high, where we get into a ball between two large pillars that with giant leagues will throw us into the sky spinning around very exciting!!! It must also be said that Eilat is the city with the most clubs, bars per capita in Israel, so let’s continue enjoying the night out!!!

And that is how we leave this beautiful and interesting region of the planet with the desire to return. We will travel every week to another corner of this wonderful world, to discover, enjoy and fly with our imagination, I wait for you every Friday and I ask you if you like me Share the content with your friends and give me a like and a review of your comments because with that you help me a lot to raise the ranking of this podcast, ALTERNATIVE REALITY A UNIQUE AND DIFFERENT SPACE THAT CREATES COMMUNITY. We make a difference. And as I always tell you when helping others, we mainly help ourselves. If you want to know what the Include Me Foundation does for the labor and social integration of people living with intellectual disabilities, enter the link: www. incluyeme.org and if it moves you and interests you, review how you can support this interesting project.

I also tell you that on my page we already have the Amaoir section with capsules from Dr. Gonzalo Corvera, a doctor specializing in otoneurology. In Mexico. He was one of the first to start performing operations to place cochlear implants in adults and children. It is currently the one that has carried out the most operations in our country.

The AMAOIR Foundation, which he chairs, supports implant candidates

cochlear disorders to get donations, gives important family counseling as well as auditory-verbal therapies.

Hearing impairment is an invisible and little understood disability.

What is lost is the ability to understand spoken language and to be able to

communicate with the other person in that language.

There are many causes for which a person can lose their hearing, it can be

lose at birth or during their lifetime.

You may have listened, spoken, and then lost that ability because you didn’t hear.

For this reason there are two different options for people with this

disability:

  1. Learn to listen or do it again with the support of technology, that is,

the use of hearing aids and/or cochlear implants, supported by a

therapy according to your needs

  1. Learn the sign language of your community as a first language,

It is therefore important that all hearing impaired people and their

relatives know both options.

The most important thing is respect and understanding that with or without devices, with oral or sign language, all are people with hearing disabilities and this podcast is focused on the entire spectrum, which is why we have an LSM interpreter, subtitles and transcription .

We want this project to reach a lot of people to achieve the objective, so it is extremely important that you subscribe to the YouTube channel, https://youtube.com/@realidadalternativaincluyente all together and with lower case, that you make comments on the page and that you share this project with all your people, the more it grows, the more we can help and that is what interests us the most in RA.

Now if you like to cook, click on the button and if not, keep traveling.

Here I present the Amaoir section. I am sure that you will learn extremely useful and interesting things about hearing impairment.

VIDEO DR:

Hi, I’m Dr. Gonzalo Coirvera Behar. Hearing is the only one of our senses that can be replaced by a computer, but as one might think, it is expensive, a way is needed so that people who do not have health insurance or have no way of accessing it can achieve it. because it is very important when it is necessary, especially in young children, to do it quickly if the opportunity is not lost and the children finally continue their lives with a disability that they may not have, so that is why we founded the Mexican Association for Hearing, help us to hear that the we know by its acronym amaoir, which is a non-profit association aimed at giving cochlear implants to people who need it most

I want to thank Fabiola Ruiz Bedolla, our Mexican Sign Language interpreter, and her entire team of collaborators, as well as a very special thanks to Mercedes Obregón, director of the Pedagogical Institute for Language Problems, IPPLIAP. Hello, I’m glad to greet you, I’m Yael Yancelson and today we’re going to a small city that I just got to know now that I’m visiting the FIL in Guadalajara, well, I’ll tell you that it was the guest country and I wanted to visit it, so we quickly arrived in Sharjah in the UAE, so breathe, if you can close your eyes, give me your hand and let yourself be guided, we begin!

Sharjah’s strategic location and its rich natural resources have been important factors in the emirate’s economic development. Sharjah had the first international airport in the Arabian Gulf, built by the British in 1932, and the first container port, built-in 1976. In addition to general commercial activities, both fishing and pearling have played an important role in Sharjah’s economy, but the pearling industry fell victim to strong competition from Japanese cultured pearls in the 1940s and lost its importance.

The discovery of oil in 1972 and the start of natural gas drilling in 1990 brought new sources of income to Sharjah, allowing the emirate to rapidly develop into the successful business and cultural center it is today. It is very interesting to know that Sharjah has become a powerful cultural center housing the Sharjah Publishing City free zone, which provides a specialized space for publishing businesses to thrive; the House of Wisdom, which has redefined the perception of libraries; and the Ciudad Universitaria, an educational complex of 15 square kilometers, with 22 institutes and an enrollment of more than 30,000 students per year.

This commitment to “knowledge, wisdom, literacy, and culture above all things”, in the words of Ahmed Al Ameri, president of the Sharjah Book Authority, has earned it recognition as the Cultural Capital of the Arab World. (1998), UNESCO Capital of Islamic Culture (2014), and UNESCO World Book Capital (2019). These designations celebrate Sharjah’s prominent role not only in supporting the arts but also in promoting the knowledge and appreciation of the history, architecture, traditional culture, and Islamic roots of the emirate. And I also tell you that we met the Founder and director of Children’s publisher Kalimat Group, as well as the Emirates Publishers Association. Bodour Al Qasimi, is a woman who is driving the female publishing industry in a very important way to empower girls and young people in the region with different programs and actions.

Let us then enter the Sharjah Museum of Calligraphy which was inaugurated in 2002. See how many beautiful works in fabric, wood, paper, and ceramics created by local artists and well-known international calligraphers demonstrate the complexity of this art form and its historical bases. They say that in addition to works from its permanent collection and calligraphy techniques, the museum holds temporary exhibitions. Every two years, the museum is one of the venues for the Sharjah Calligraphy Biennale, organized by the Art Directorate of the government’s Department of Culture and Information. The Museum also organizes workshops and conferences. And let’s see the building that is here on the left because they tell us that it has calligrapher studios and we will be able to see how they work and chance to take a course.

I also fancy going into the Art Museum, created in 1995 by the Art Directorate of the Department of Culture and Information, it was located in Bait Al Serkal until 1997. The new building, entirely dedicated to fine arts and activities related to art, was built a few steps from there and inaugurated on April 9, 1997, during the 3rd Sharjah Biennale. Here we can see how the main building and a later one are interconnected by two passageways, they have 68 meeting rooms of different dimensions and a total area of about 11,000 square meters.

So let’s enjoy permanent collections and temporary exhibitions, international and Arab artists who have investigated the history and culture of the region. There is the A Century in Flux exhibition, a selection of modernist paintings, sculptures, and works of art. The museum is regularly used as one of the venues for the Sharjah Biennale, organized by the Sharjah Art Foundation.

Did you know that the Association of Art Professionals in the United Arab Emirates, was established in 1980? It is headquartered here in Sharjah and has branches in Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, and Khor Fakkan. The Emirates Fine Arts Society is a member of the Arab Art Association and the International Art Association, IAA/AIAP (based in Paris, France). The mission is to support its members and promote art education and art appreciation by organizing exhibitions – including the Annual Exhibition at the Sharjah Art Museum – as well as workshops, seminars, and conferences. The headquarters with its courtyard and gallery is open to the public and offers workshops, let’s see if we can catch one!!

We now walk through an area known as the Heritage Area with various restored buildings, in the central square is the Souk Al Arash, you know that I always love to visit the local markets and this is the first in the city, so let’s see the wonderful fruits, vegetables and especially spices to cook a delicious traditional dish later.

Ahead we can see the AL Hisn Fort, which was the place of residence of the leaders and was built in 1820. Let’s go inside… and finally, we can’t stop going to the Al Noor Mosque, it’s worth it!!!

If you are hungry and you like to cook, click on the button, or if you prefer, continue traveling.

Hello, I am glad to greet you, I am Yael Yancelson and today we are going to a city with truly amazing landscapes and a very interesting culture. We are flying to Kyoto in Japan, so breathe, close your eyes, give me your hand and let yourself be guided, we begin!

The country of the rising sun is an archipelago that has no more and no less than 6,852 islands. Today we go to Kyoto, the ancient capital of the country that is famous throughout the world for its refined culture and gastronomy.

The first thing we see is one of the most incredible images of Japan surrounded by beautiful gardens where you can calmly contemplate this marvel, the famous Golden Pavilion of Kyoto, its beauty impresses me, and you also feel a lot of serenity in the environment and in your own architecture and is famous for its symmetry and its perfection that Yukio Mishima immortalized in his novel that deals with the life of the Buddhist monk Mizoguchi who is obsessed with the beauty of this monument.

Did you know that Amanohashidate, in northern Kyoto, has long been considered one of the three most spectacular landscapes in Japan?

Let’s move on to the Kiyomizudera temple, on top of a small mountain located to the east of Kyoto, what spectacular views there are in this city!! The huge lattice balcony of the temple is one of the best-known images of Japan, if you turn to the right of the main hall of the temple you will see its most famous element, a balcony built on a wooden structure and without nails to the purest Japanese style with a height of 13 meters from the ground. Behind the main hall, there is the Jishu Shrine, known for being a place where people come to pray for fortune in love. In front of the shrine, on the ground, there are two large stones: if you manage to walk from one to the other with your eyes closed, it is said that you will find true love. From the shrine, follow the path and go up to the Okunoin temple, It is very worth it and from there we go to the Otowa waterfalls

These waterfalls, located at the base of the main hall of the temple, run through a small artificial grotto and divide into three streams.

They say that the water from these waterfalls transmits a series of special properties to those who drink it. Drinking water from the stream on the right is good for health, from the one in the center for love and from the one on the left to achieve academic success. Now, you can only drink from one of the streams, so think carefully before making the decision. Which one are you going to drink? I haven’t decided yet…

And now we come to the famous Nishiki market, which although very different from how it was in its origins some 400 years ago, when it was an open-air fish market, still has an amazing agglomeration of vendors in a narrow alley of kilometers and medium long. Let’s walk around and see what we can buy and try around here…

If you like sweets, you can delight yourself with ice cream and soy milk donuts. Other Kyoto delicacies are also sold here such as mackerel sushi, dashimaki Tamago or sweet omelet, which I especially love, pickles of vegetables grown in Kyoto, and the delicate green tea from the city of Uji.

By the way, this green tea from Uji is one of the oldest and most valued in Japan. You’ll find it in small soba restaurants, in temple gardens, and in many other places. Uji offers a multitude of ways to enjoy green tea.

In the heart of the Gion neighborhood, in the historic center of the city of Kyoto, one of the oldest tea houses in all of Japan is located, and we have to live the interesting experience of the tea ceremony, which in Japan is an ancient tradition that comes from directly from the influence of Chinese culture, in which Japanese green tea or matcha tea is prepared, to be served to a small group of guests. It receives the name cha-no-du, which literally means ‘hot water for tea’, while the term chadō, or sadō, is used to name the learning or doctrine of the tea ceremony, which means ‘the path of tea’ in Japanese. The ceremony takes place in a quiet Japanese-style room called a washitsu, typical of Japanese teahouses, with a wooden structure that opens directly onto a small zen garden.

In these rooms, it is normal to find spaces adorned with a tokonoma, which consists of a small altar decorated with kakemonos or decorative scrolls, as well as different flower arrangements depending on the season of the year. If you realize this beautiful ceremony is a very studied choreography, with simple but refined movements, a symbol of beauty and meditation. During the ceremony you must be silent, paying close attention to the preparation, to feel the relaxation of the entire ceremony. The host puts 3 tablespoons of matcha tea in each bowl of Japanese per guest, filling it with a ladle of hot water, pouring out a third, and returning the rest of the water to the container. The mixture is then shaken with a bamboo stirrer, achieving the mixture called koicha. The guests go one by one moving on their knees, to take the bowl, you have to bow to the others, and place the bowl in your left hand holding one of the sides with your right hand. He takes a sip, praises the flavor, and takes another sip or two before wiping the rim with a kaishi napkin, passing the bowl around to the rest of the guests. Once all the guests have finished, the bowl reaches the first, who must deliver it back to the host.

We left to continue walking around Kyoto and look at how cute the Kyo sensu folding fans are made with Japanese tissue paper made by hand and some thin strips of wood, either Japanese cypress or bamboo. These magnificent accessories are used in ceremonies, festivals, and various performances, such as Noh theater, an excellent gift to wear!

episode transcription

Hello, I am glad to greet you, I am Yael Yancelson and today we are going to a city that is obviously on everyone’s conversation because the exciting World Cup is starting here in Qatar so we cannot stay out of visiting this region of the planet, breathe, close your eyes and let yourself be guided, we begin!

Qatar is a sovereign Arab state located in western Asia and occupying the small peninsula of Qatar in the eastern Arabian peninsula. It has a single land border, to the south with Saudi Arabia, while the rest of the territory is bathed by the waters of the Persian Gulf.

It is an absolute monarchy that has been ruled by the Al Thani family since the mid-19th century.

The capital of Qatar is Doha, which is also the most populous city in the country. The city of Doha is located on the eastern coast of Qatar and borders the Persian Gulf. And since it is extremely full of tourists because of the World Cup, what if we take a getaway and explore the beauty of the desert; We will be the special guests of the local Bedouins and we will ride some camels. During the tour through the desert we will see several falcons while we experience the thrill of riding through the sand dunes in a high-powered 4X4, which takes us to the border with Saudi Arabia, where we can stop at the edge of the famous Inland Sea, appreciate the beautiful and different views and of course take a lot of photos, so let’s have fun!

After this adventure, we go to the Katara Cultural Village, which is the largest multicultural project in Qatar. With two majestic mosques whose architecture evokes images from the Arabian Nights, a variety of art galleries, an open Romanesque amphitheater, a drama theater, an opera house, and a museum showcasing Qatar’s maritime history and gardens.

Culture and art are very important in Qatar and that is why there is a great promotion of museums and exhibition spaces with the possibility of finding the most varied works. For this reason, this Katara Village space was created, a small town created within Dona between West Bay and the Pearl of Doha.

Did you know that film-related events are held here, such as Doha’s Tribeca Festival or the Doha Film Institute’s Ajyal Youth Film Festival?

In addition, there is a wide variety of restaurants and dining options. On the promenade, you can also enjoy food stalls, markets, and the chance to enjoy yourself on the beach. A great cultural and leisure offer that turns this small town into a union between tradition and modernity. Within this great project are the Katara Hills Gardens, gardens with more than 600,000 square meters, which house plants and trees from different countries. and continents and which represent a true oasis of cultures to celebrate art, creativity, and talent. It’s incredible, don’t you think?

These gardens also house paths for sports and outdoor recreation areas. Something that has caught my attention here is the important audio installation in this place. To provide these large open spaces with a reliable public address and voice evacuation system, we have been told that this installation should provide maximum coverage audio at optimal levels, for the comfort of walkers and users; ensure a uniform distribution of music and public address announcements throughout the park, to overcome existing uneven terrain and gusts of strong wind that sometimes occur; and provide security and reliability to the system, so that it can function correctly in any situation, especially in an emergency. It’s very nice to have background music while you walk through the gardens, don’t you think?

This place was opened in 2010 and many Qatari organizations are located here. Its name Katara comes from the historical name of the town. The Katara Cultural Village also maintains its own private beach, a 1.5 km long strip of sand with a children’s play area, and also if we fancy we can practice water skiing, parasailing, or taking a boat ride from the beach. And now we really have to go see a World Cup game and experience the atmosphere!

Arabic food is definitely one of the most popular and delicious in the world, so if you like to cook, click on the button, or if you prefer, keep traveling.

And that is how we leave this beautiful and interesting region of the planet with the desire to return. We will travel every week to another corner of this wonderful world, to discover, enjoy and fly with our imagination, I wait for you every Friday and I ask you if you like, share the content with your friends and give me a like and a review of your comments because with that you help me a lot to raise the ranking of this podcast, ALTERNATIVE REALITY A UNIQUE AND DIFFERENT SPACE THAT CREATES COMMUNITY. episode transcription

Hello, I am glad to greet you, I am Yael Yancelson and today we are going to a true paradise, we fly to the island of Phuket in Thailand, so breathe, close your eyes and let yourself be guided, we begin.

Phuket is the largest island in Thailand and is connected to the mainland by a bridge: Sarasin. One of the biggest tourist attractions on the island is its beaches. The most beautiful is located between the island’s south and southwest, each with its charm and peculiarity.

Most of the photographs that we have seen in networks and magazines, of the impressive and beautiful sunsets of Phuket, are taken from here where we are, which is the southern tip of the island and it is good that we arrived early to sit down to enjoy the sunset where the Andaman Sea is lost, now it is a postcard moment, right!

The Phi Phi Islands are small islands that are located to the southwest of the island of Phuket. They are part of the Krabi province and consist of four islands: Koh Phi Phi Don (the main and only inhabited island), Koh Phi Phi Leh, Koh Pai (also known as Bamboo Island), and Koh Yunk (or Mosquito Island). ), I feel like taking a speedboat service that connects Phuket directly with the main island of Phi Phi and making the journey that lasts about two hours in which we will enjoy a beautiful tour of the Andaman Sea.

Now here, how about we snorkel, and when we get out of the sea they offer us lunch and then contemplate the Viking Cave: these caves are located on the island of Koh Phi Phi Leh, at the bottom of a cliff. Then we will make an excursion to Long Beach. We will visit Monkey Beach: This beach is characterized by the fact that you will find monkeys on it. You can take a kayak excursion to get closer to this beach but, beware of the monkeys! And if you are very intrepid, we can dive among turtles and sharks and, if not, you can take an introductory diving course.

In Phang Nga Bay is the islet of Ko Tapu, better known as James Bond Island. This island appeared in the 1974 film, The Man with the Golden Gun, as the “secret island of Scaramanga” and on it, Roger Moore (Agent 007) and Christopher Lee shot the final duel of the film, do you remember? of the scene?

A must-see in Phuket is The Big Buddha, which is a 45-meter-high statue of white marble and is a symbol of this island. It is located on a hill, at the top of Mount Nakkerd, between Chalong and Kata beach, from there we can see beautiful views of Chalong Bay, as well as a pleasant 360º panoramic view of the entire island of Phuket. To go up to the Big Buddha there is a section of about 6 kilometers of curves and they recommended that we rent a motorcycle to go up.

Wat Chalong is the largest Buddhist temple in Phuket and consists of several buildings. The main attraction is the main pagoda or Great Pagoda, about 60 meters high. It is decorated with paintings depicting the life story of Buddha and various Buddha images are also displayed. There is also an exhibition room where you will see different wax statues of some of the most prominent monks in the country’s history.

And at nightfall, we have to go to the famous Patong Beach parties, which is the main tourist spot in Phuket for those who like the night and seek to have a great time at the many night parties that are organized daily, Bangla street is an option! This street and the alleys that lead to it are full of restaurants, bars, discos, karaoke bars, and clubs with music and shows here the shops and restaurants open until very late and at night Bangla Street becomes pedestrianized and the fun begins. Partying on Patong Beach is an experience worth doing, at least one night, as it is something different. Of course, keep in mind that the night there is very crazy, so enjoy!

Phuket has a unique cuisine and its entrees and desserts are a combination of Malay, Thai, and Chinese cooking styles. Let’s try the Oh Aew a dessert that is made of gelatinous banana flour mixed with boiled red beans, ice, and sweet red syrup, !!!mmmm the flavor is very different but rich, what did you think? but since it is very complicated to acquire these ingredients, I decided to learn how to make my favorite dish, a traditional pad thai:

So if you like to cook, click on the button, or if you prefer, keep traveling.

And that is how we leave this beautiful and interesting region of the planet with the desire to return. We will travel every week to another corner of this wonderful world, to discover, enjoy and fly with the imagination, I wait for you every Friday and I ask you if you like to share the content with your friends and give me a like and a review of your comments because with that you help me a lot to raise the ranking of this podcast, ALTERNATIVE REALITY A UNIQUE AND DIFFERENT SPACE THAT CREATES COMMUNITY. Hello, I am glad to greet you, I am Yael Yancelson and today we are going to make a long trip to a little corner of the Philippines called Cebu. We fly with the power of the imagination and the senses, so breathe, close your eyes and let yourself be guided, we begin.

We arrived in Cebu, it is a province of the Philippines, in the Visayas region, it is the gateway to many of the surrounding islands.

We begin this tour by visiting the Santo Niño de Cebu Basilica, the oldest church in the Philippines, and continue to Magellan’s Cross, to learn a little more about the history of the Spanish in the Philippines. The famous cross was placed by the explorers who accompanied Magellan on his expedition on April 21, 1521. We found this Cross in a chapel, which is next to the Basilica of the Holy Child, on the street that was baptized as Magellan. , in front of the town hall.

On a sign below the cross, it says that the original cross is below the wooden cross we are seeing in the center of the chapel. This is in order to protect it, since people previously took pieces of the cross as souvenirs, or in the hope of finding miraculous powers, for which it is currently protected.

This province was discovered in the Magellan expedition when the Spanish fleets arrived here in search of species, and both the Raja Humabon and his wife Humamay welcomed them. This is because they were the first Westerners to arrive in these lands, although foreigners from the East always arrived in these lands, in ships that transported porcelain, spices, iron, and other merchandise.

Magellan had a great influence on the culture because he asked to baptize all the natives in the Catholic faith. The expedition was ultimately left in the hands of Juan Sebastián Elcano, who returned to Spain and together with the members of the expedition were the first to give around the world To this day, the legacy of Magellan is still present in the city, and Christianity remains strong in this culture.

Other important historical attractions are the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral and Fort San Pedro. What if we enter the Taoist temple that crowns the city on one of its hills and represents the Chinese community that lives in Cebu? The Cebu Taoist Temple is located in Beverly Hills, a high-standard neighborhood located on the outskirts of the city that was built in 1972 thanks to a large collection carried out by the Chinese community that lived in Cebu, looking for a place where they could satisfy their spiritual needs.

Look at the panoramic views of the whole city and let’s climb this stairway of 81 steps, one for each chapter of the Taoist scriptures, after you have caught your breath, you will see the main hall of the temple, it amazes me with its architecture, its different dragons watching From the roof and, obviously, because of the beautiful views, can you see the island of Mactan far away and catch a glimpse of the coast of Bohol? Beautiful right?

We will spend some time walking around the temple and getting to know its different spaces. The great viewpoint overlooking the gardens, the small pond full of turtles, the pagoda next to the main temple… Take your time and enjoy the peace and quiet of the place.

At the back of the Cebu Taoist Temple is what is one of the most picturesque places in the sanctuary and an ideal setting to take a picture Here, below we will see a beautiful and colorful small-scale replica of the Great Wall of China and a huge dragon defining what is the back door of the enclosure.

The guides of the place have told us about a ritual to receive God’s answer to any question that is asked. Whether you are a believer or not, the truth is that it is interesting to share the experience with a member of the temple and get to know their beliefs more closely and this is what we must do:

First, you must clean your hands well, an act that symbolizes purity.

Then you must light one of the incense sticks that you will see available there and bow to the main altar.

Next, you must take two kidney-shaped wooden blocks and drop them. If both land with their concave side up, it means that you cannot ask your question because at that moment you are not ready to talk to God and you will have to come back another day. If one goes up and one goes down, you’ll have a free hand to ask your question. In case both fall down, you will have to agree and try to contact the divinity again.

If you get YES, you are eligible to ask. Bow again, formulate your question in your mind, and you will receive your answer. In case both wooden kidneys are upside down, it translates as a “perhaps” and you will have to reformulate your question in a more specific way. So come on, let’s do the Taoist ritual!!

Did you know that there are a thousand waterfalls throughout the island? So let’s see the Inambakan Falls, the Kawasan Falls, Kabutongan Falls, Dao Falls, and Cambais Falls which have waterfalls and incredible natural pools, or the Aguinid Falls that after Kawasan are the most popular for having a system of natural pools of 8 levels.

And at night I tell you that this city is characterized by offering us a wide variety of bars and clubs, in which we can have an excellent night, whether you just go for a drink, or you want to dance and enjoy with your friends. How about we go to K1 Family KTV, which is a karaoke bar, which is perfect to spend a fun night, where the party never stops, and where you can have a fantastic experience in the city and let’s try to sing in Cebuano, which is the main language

And if you like to cook, I think it’s time to prepare our ingredients to go to the kitchen and make a very typical chicken marinade, click on the button, or if you prefer keep traveling

And that is how we leave this beautiful and interesting region of the planet with the desire to return. We will travel every week to another corner of this wonderful world, to discover, enjoy and fly with the imagination, I wait for you every Friday and I ask you if you like me to share the content with your friends and give me a like and a review of your comments because with that you help me a lot to raise the ranking of this podcast, ALTERNATIVE REALITY A UNIQUE AND DIFFERENT SPACE THAT CREATES COMMUNITY. A rainbow every day of the week

Before starting, I want to remind you that alternative reality is a project born from the heart, with the idea of being inclusive and supportive of people who live with hearing disabilities, who have taught us that this space can be enjoyed in very different ways and that is why that you can review it on the platform of your choice, in addition to knowing different causes throughout each episode to help and give something in return to this beautiful planet. episode transcription

Hello, I am glad to greet you, I am Yael Yancelson and today we are going to make a long trip to a little corner of Taiwan called Chiayi city, we fly with the power of the imagination and the senses, so breathe, close your eyes and let yourself be guided, let’s begin.

We arrived at Chiayi, a city located in the plains to the southwest of the Island of Taiwan, Republic of China, called Kagee during the Qing Dynasty and Kangi during the Japanese occupation of Taiwan.

Chiayi’s many attractions provide us with the perfect combination of urban city life, a rich cultural experience, and beautiful natural sights. Mainly known as the gateway to Alishan, one of Taiwan’s major attractions, this city has its own charm that will fascinate you!

We’ve been told that every color of the rainbow can be seen here from the Jianan Plain to the Taiwan Strait. The interesting thing is that at night it lights up with the colors of the rainbow, changing throughout the week: red on Monday, orange on Tuesday, and so on each day of the week a color. The illumination lasts from 6 in the afternoon until 10 at night. This apparently magical place with huge cypresses and incredible views of the mountains below the clouds has captivated me. Today is Friday and I had to see the turquoise sky.

Look what a beautiful place! is the Taiping “Ladder to the Clouds” Suspension Bridge, which rises in a single section over high mountains, and if you like we cross the Taiping Mountain to Guishan which has a length of 281 meters and a height of 1,000 meters above sea level. sea, and is the highest in Taiwan. From here we will be able to contemplate the landscapes of Chiayi, the beautiful sunsets, and the landscape of the sea coast, overlooking the famous “Meishan curve”.

Near the Chiayi high-speed train stop, we pass the southern section of the National Palace Museum right where it is in Taibao City, Chiayi District; In addition to the museum, there is an artificial lake in the center, with a bridge across the south of this lake so that visitors can reach the entrance to the second floor of the museum. The architecture of the museum is based on the three techniques of Chinese ink painting: strong ink, ink with holes, and reduced ink, forming the specific space for the exhibition of the objects, and on the other hand, it forms the empty space for public attention and visits uniting all the spaces. It symbolizes the historical and multifaceted Asian culture that encompasses Chinese, Indian and Persian. His style of architecture unites a double aerodynamic with the cultural metaphors of the dragon, the elephant, and the horse. It is very interesting to understand that in order to adapt to this style, and to the union and movement of architecture, the structure of the bridge and its style adopts the cursive style of Chinese calligraphy, which creates an atmosphere of rhythmic movement for people and offers visitors an experience of a unique and comfortable ride.

The Alishan Forest Railway is an attraction in its own right, it was established during the Japanese occupation and the old traditional trains are still running to this day. The trains will pass through a beautiful forest to reach the Alishan mountain range. The Song of the Forest is not a theatrical production, but it is a beautiful landmark that serves to celebrate the prosperity of the city of Chiayi, mainly from its thriving timber industry. Forest Song is an egg-shaped dome structure made of local wood and designed according to the vision of local artist Wang Wen-Chih. We will enter the dome through a rattan-covered archway which symbolizes the railway leading to the Alishan Mountain Range.

We now head to Hinoki Village, a charming traditional Japanese village that was also established during the Japanese occupation using the local cypress forests. Various organizations use it as dormitories throughout its history with 28 well-preserved traditional Japanese houses surviving to this day. Today, Hinoki Village is re-established as Taiwan’s first forest creative and cultural park, with its traditional Japanese houses now housing different commercial establishments that customers can visit. Visitors can even rent a yukata, traditional Japanese clothing made of cotton, for a few hours while strolling through the village. It is mainly used for summer festivals or hot seasons. It is much lighter than the kimono because it does not have the layer that normally covers it and because it is not made of silk.

To celebrate Chiayi’s forest industries and represent the culture of the city, the 62-meter-tall Chiayi Tower made of brown aluminum was built to represent the sacred tree in Alishan from a folk tale. Let’s go inside to admire the Sun Shooting bronze sculpture, also from a Taiwanese folk tale. The first floor has plaques of brave soldiers as tributes to the soldiers who lost their lives during the war, keep walking and you will come to an art gallery, cafe, and garden on the roof of the tower.

How about we stop at Chiayi Park for a moment and relax before we continue walking to see historical monuments, fish ponds, and beautiful natural scenery? It’s a great place for nature walks within the hustle and bustle of the city.

We’ve been told that nearby is a historic prison simply known as the Old Prison which developed a legend of its own similar to that of Alcatraz in the United States. Today, it serves as a museum where people can join a guided tour talking about its history, how the prisoners were treated, walk through the well-preserved cells, visiting rooms, bathrooms, central monitoring station, etc. The guide tells us stories about life in prison, rumors about how the prisoners were treated, and interesting supernatural events.

I find that a great way to experience the local culture is to visit the Xingang Fengtian Temple which was built in honor of two Taiwanese deities, Mazu and Tiger General. Every intricate part and design of the temple symbolizes the folklore surrounding these two deities. Goddess Mazu is a beloved deity who keeps sea travelers safe, while Tiger General offers protection to children.

We arrived at the Chiayi Botanical Garden, a huge forest that extends over 8.6 hectares. What a cool breeze! It feels like walking through winding paths and we can take breaks in the shade of the trees with more than 140 different species. It is the experimental ground of the Chiayi Forestry Research Institute, where they study local and foreign tree species.

For food lovers, there is no better place than the Wenhua Night Market, where we can taste every Taiwanese food and snack you can imagine, it smells like endless spices, right? let’s see what to eat…while we feel the busy atmosphere and visit different clothing and shoe stores at very affordable prices.

Undoubtedly, Chiayi is a city that perfectly balances the beauty of nature and the modern conveniences of the city.

The last stop will be the Lantan Lake Scenic Area which offers us a panoramic view of the beautiful Lantan Lake or Orchid Lake. Relax in the scenic area or stroll near the lake shores while enjoying the crystal clear waters and serene atmosphere.

And if you like to cook, I think it’s time to prepare our ingredients to go to the kitchen and make very typical rice with turkey, click on the button or if you prefer, keep traveling.

Let’s take the fastest elevator in the world and go up to the iconic skyscraper Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, we reach the 125th floor and see the view from the balcony of the observation deck- it’s impressive, right? what do you feel, tell me…

The Burj Khalifa towers over Downtown Dubai at a staggering 829 meters.

There is much to learn about the architecture and technology behind this Middle Eastern icon.

It’s time to go on an adventure in the desert of Dubai. We will have a fun and different experience of driving among the reddish sand dunes and feel the hospitality of a Bedouin desert camp where we will spend the night and have dinner at the big campfire together with them.

What a quiet desert! But the truth is that I feel like taking this off-road vehicle and driving a quad through the dunes. How magical everything looks reddish in the Lahbab desert, do you want more adrenaline? let’s do sandboarding, which is like skiing but on sand instead of snow!!!

How wonderful to be in the Al Khayma camp where they give us exquisite Arabic coffee, sweets and dates. If you like, you can smoke a water pipe, get a henna tattoo or come to meet the falcon expert and his faithful bird of prey. And the traditional dance show begins on the central stage while we dine on a delicious and traditional barbecue.

Late at night, look at the sky- you have never seen so many stars as here in this clear and beautiful sky, how peaceful it feels!!!

I confess that I am amazed at the marine life of the Ambassador Lagoon in the Lost Chambers Aquarium inside the Atlantis the Palm hotel. So how about we stop at the Souk Madinat Jumeirah market, before going to the Jumeirah mosque.

Do you want to visit the Souk Al Bahar shopping center before going to the Dubai Mall? They say that it is well worth entering this luxurious place and doing it even if it is a quick window shopping.

One of the most emblematic places in Dubai is this dynamic museum of the future and it is interesting to see how each of its exhibitions explores how society could evolve in the following decades, there is an immersive theater that I am dying to know where they are addressed topics of ecology, climate change, health, space and much more- I have not seen more technology than this, you agree, how wonderful!

Let’s go up to this Ferris wheel in Ain Dubai located on Blue Waters Island and enjoy another great urban landscape. Did you see the LED screen at the base of the Ferris wheel? I am amazed by so much technology.

And now for the very, very adventurous, there is the ride on the Sky View cornice at the top of the Address hotel, 219.5 meters above sea level, do you dare? there is also a fun glass slide, amazing, I feel like a girl again!

We arrived at the Butterfly Garden (butterfly garden) in the Al Barsha area, a bright garden of rounded shapes designed in 3D and decorated with colorful flowers. Spanning some 1,800 square meters, the gardens can hold up to 300 visitors. Let’s go through the 9 domes together, each one full of butterflies of different colors, sizes, and species. We continue walking to the Miracle Garden, just 5 minutes from the Butterfly Garden, and see over 45 million plants in bloom, arranged in stunning patterns, interesting shapes, and structures. You see the longest wall of flowers in the world, according to the Guinness Book of Records. Here we will learn about the Miracle Garden’s renewable philosophy, which allows new designs and attractions to be introduced each season. It seemed like a unique place to me besides that it smells delicious, could you perceive the floral and fresh aroma?

Dubai is famous for its wealth, glamour, unique gigantic architecture, and shopping areas. However, it is also a utopia for a diner. It features a variety of cuisines from around the world. It’s easy to get lost in the variety on offer, but what you shouldn’t miss is traditional Emirati cuisine. Dubai is a place where you will find the opportunity to experience the authentic cuisine of the United Arab Emirates, giving you a taste of the local culture and lifestyle that is not found anywhere else in the world. Before moving on to the food, a small tradition of the Emirates is to serve coffee to their guests. They believe that it is auspicious to hold the coffee cup in your right palm and pour little coffee into the cup, without filling it to the brim, and serve it to the guests. When the guests finish their coffee, they shake their cups to indicate that they don’t want any more. Only after this is the food served. So we shake our cups and dive into the delicious food menu of the Emirates. We are offered The Machboos which is a traditional dish made with lamb or fish and rice seasoned with “loomi”. Loomi is a spice made from dried lime and crushed. For dessert we tried this delicacy called Luqaimat, it is sweet and salty with a crunchy outer layer and a soft interior, we savored it mmmm. The balls are dipped in a sweet date syrup known as “dipps” or simply soaked in honey. They remind me of donut centers, right?

If you like to cook, I think it’s time to prepare our ingredients to go to the kitchen and make a typical dish called KHUZI, click on the button, or if you prefer, keep traveling.

Hi, nice to greet you. I’m Yael Yancelson and I’m very excited to be your guide and companion on this magical journey through the senses and imagination. This is a space to give you, so give me your hand, close your eyes, breathe and let yourself go on an incredible journey.

In this episode we are going to take a very nice and interesting trip, as we grab our imaginative power and quickly take a plane to the small city of Lijiang in China. Accompany me!

A long trip, but it’s worth all the world, you’ll see. We land in the north of Yunnan and we are greeted by Lijiang, a city that has eight centuries of history, but with the good fortune that that history is quite intact in its streets and beauty. Famous for its canal systems, its appearance, history and culture are linked to the descendants of the Naxi people. Something interesting is that this is a town with 300 stone bridges. It looks impressive, don’t you think?

YanLi, originally from one of these ethnic villages that still preserve their customs, welcomes us, and takes us walking between wooden houses that descend a hill, and that have been intact for a millennium, you feel the weight of history in these hills , try to perceive it. Be careful when walking, there are very steep descents full of rocks, I tripped and almost fell but YanLi kindly held me and nothing happened…

Lijiang, one of the best preserved ancient cities in China. More than a thousand years of history is reflected in beautiful buildings with curved eaves built by the Naxi culture, the majority in this remote area of the Yunnan province.

The town of Lijiang, has been nicknamed the Oriental Venice, is famous for its numerous water canals, I have been impressed by its natural beauty that mixes with the historic buildings and ancient murals found in nearby towns.

In the gastronomy of this region, different flavors and local products abound, and the influence of the Han and Tibetan cultures is perceived. The traditional food of Lijiang is what the Naxi people have developed using local products that have a great variety thanks to the climate in the region. The basic ingredients of their diet are rice, wheat flour and corn. The dishes integrate spicy, bitter and sweet flavors and clearly taste the spices of the Tibetan people and the Han ethnic group.

And let’s keep walking through these steep streets and look, they offer us some traditional snacks like jidou liangfen, a kind of chickpea jelly; baba, a type of potato cake eaten with a condiment; and bingfenliangxiao, a dessert made from rice and roses. YANLi decides to try the rice noodle soup, typical of the region, and prepares us niàng sangróng, steamed spicy and highly aromatic mushrooms, and zhu biao ròu, a dried pork stew. He has mentioned to us that the formal meal of the Naxi people is a banquet called sandiesgui that includes 39 courses, including snacks, specialties and desserts.

To drink, butter tea is very popular, which, as its name implies, contains butter, yak milk and salt, and is usually used to maintain body temperature in cold winters. Also, rice wine is consumed to refresh. So cheers!

Lijiang and the surrounding area have an abundance of teahouses, Western food restaurants and Chinese specialty establishments, which have been increasing with the popularity of the destination. Entering the Lijiang food market now is a must during a visit to this wonderful city.

This remote site flourished with the tea trade and today is a popular tourist destination that seems straight out of a fairy tale, with enchanting air, snow-capped mountains and rivers.

The city of Lijiang is famous for its urban design and its old water distribution system that still works, in which the canals in the upper part are for consumption, those in the middle part are used to wash fruits and vegetables, and those in the lower part are for washing clothes. The numerous canals, with some 350 bridges, constitute the vital arteries of the community and have been used to call it the Venice of the East as I mentioned before. The main source of water is the Black Dragon Pool, which is the center of Jade Spring Park. This park boasts views of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, hiking trails up Elephant Trunk Hill, and is home to the Dongba Culture Research Institute; the Dongba Cultural Museum, with exhibits that help understand the Naxi culture, and several historical buildings. In the Jade Spring Park, the Longshen Temple stands out, which has two wings and a large hall; the Deyeu Pavilion, located in the center of the emerald waters of the lake, and the white marble Suocui bridge- I find everything very interesting, what do you think, tell me. Lijiang’s Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stretches around Sifangjie Square and features neatly aligned typical tile-roofed houses and streets paved with bluish rocks forming a network connecting every corner. Here you can perceive the tranquility of the life of the local people and visit the Residence of the Mu, which preserves the essence of what was the Naxi palace and political center, with some 100 buildings that have delicate decorations, paintings, calligraphy works and typical gardens of southern China.

Other attractions in Lijiang are the Lion Mountain Park, ideal to appreciate the panorama of the old town, with the Wangu Tower at the top, which consists of a five-story wooden construction, on 16 22-meter-high pillars and five eaves; Wenchang Palace, which was the venue for lectures and examinations during the Qing dynasty; the Gemelas Stones Garden, with a hydraulic wheel; the Dragon Pond White Horse Temple, with a crystal clear body of water used for washing clothes, and the Zhongyi Market.

The Jade Dragon Snow Mountain with its steep slopes, where winter sports and scientific research are currently practiced, is one of the main natural attractions in the vicinity of Lijiang.

Did you know that jasmine, so widely used here, has its Chinese name Moli and a spicy flavor, the old sages say that it helps to properly move the Qi of the stomach, (which according to traditional Chinese medicine is the vital energy or life force that maintains the spiritual, emotional, mental and physical health of a person in balance) and to dissolve the tan that is the acid so it balances the digestive function and improves mood.

I found it fascinating to discover together the natural beauties around this mountain that comprise the Agua Blanca River; the so-called Mar Seco, a meadow that was once a glacier where different landscapes can be seen depending on the season; a plateau surrounded by fir trees linked to a Naxi legend about love for which it is frequented by romantic couples, and the Yufeng Temple, with a design that combines Buddhist, Taoist and Naxi styles,

The beautiful walk and bike ride we took to visit the nearby villages of Baisha and Shune allowed me to experience the calm with which the Naxi live and see several ancient temples and famous murals, which took around 300 years to create and merge the cultures of different nationalities. I hope you have also felt that calm and amazement at everything we managed to see and enjoy on this tour with the 5 senses and the imagination.

And if you like to cook,CLICK THE BUTTON so you can go to my kitchen to prepare a traditional WonTon soup and send me a photo of your dish to share in our community.

Or if you prefer, you can continue to travel
