episode transcription
Hello, it is a pleasure to greet you, I am Yael Yancelson and today we fly quickly with the power of imagination and the senses to discover one of the last nomadic societies in the world, we arrive in Mongolia, one of the brightest tourist jewels in Central Asia, so breathe, give me your hand, let me guide you and we will begin!!
All Latin Americans need visas to travel to Mongolia. It can be online or upon arrival it is processed at the Genghis Khan International Airport, in Ulan Batar. Do not forget!
Now we land and visit numerous historical monuments, living witnesses of the power of a lost empire. It is interesting to see how the majority of Mongolia’s natural spaces have not been touched by the hand of man, which will allow us to get to know the virgin nature.
The capital of the ancient Mongol Empire: Karakorum was built in the 13th century, it is hidden among the green hills and mountain ranges of the Orkhon Valley. Today it is home to a modern city, in the center of which are the ruins of ancient Karakorum. Let’s enter the temple of the Erdene Zuu Buddhist monastery to see stone sculptures of turtles, as well as the remains of an ancient palace, pottery kilns and workshops of crafts.
The largest Buddhist temple is the Gandantegchinlen Monastery, in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. The monastery has existed since the beginning of the 19th century. The temple complex’s extensive grounds include a library with 50,000 religious books, a Buddhist school, prayer areas and many Buddha statues. You can see the giant statue of the Goddess of Mercy, it is 26 meters high. I love emerald tile roofs!!
Get ready to go to the Gobi Desert, which is undoubtedly the country’s main natural attraction, it has an area of approximately 1.5 million square kilometers and extends along the border with China. It is home to camels, Przewalski horses, wild birds, and in the Bayanzag canyon you can admire real landscapes that seem from another planet. Observe the rocks that seem to burn with reddish fire, which is actually due to the special color of the clay. We got on an SUV to advance through the dune area known as Khongoryn Els and, just like in the deserts of Morocco or India, the stay with the nomads includes camel rides, walks and meals.
We will see DALANDZADGAD archaeological zone that is located south of the desert and is one of the places where the greatest number of remains of skeletons and dinosaur eggs were found. Can you imagine those times?
We must stay in the ger tent, it is a home used by nomads in the steppes of Central Asia. Different peoples have used this type of housing since ancient times. In the Middle Ages, nomadic life forced them to have a home for their constant movements. This tent was protected by a thick cover, was easy to transport and optimal to withstand the intense climatic changes of Mongolia and Siberia.
Wow, what a spectacle we will see when night falls, the stars come out to play. The billions of stars in the Milky Way look so close and so clear that it seems possible to hold them with your hands.
Now we will go to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, one of the largest national parks in Mongolia that extends for thousands of kilometers. There are more than 300 different species of birds and animals and 1,200 species of plants. Let’s enjoy the incredible rock formations that look like sculptures of humans and animals. But this resemblance is not made by man, but has been created by the erosion of granite. The symbol of the park is the Melkhii-Khad, which is the rock in the shape of a giant turtle. And within the reserve you can find true nomad camps and camel farms.
And this is how we leave this beautiful and interesting region of the planet with the desire to return. We will travel every week to another corner of this wonderful world, to discover, enjoy and fly with the imagination, I wait for you every Friday with different content and I ask you to If you like the content, share it with your friends and give me a like and a review of your comments because with that you help me a lot to raise the ranking of this podcast, ALTERNATIVE REALITY A UNIQUE AND DIFFERENT SPACE THAT CREATES COMMUNITY. I’ll tell you a little about how hearing disability is an invisible and little understood disability.
What is lost is the ability to understand oral language and be able to
communicate with the other person in that language.
There are many reasons why a person can lose their hearing, it can
lose at birth or during their life. And there are many ways to communicate when living with a hearing disability, the option of oralization with the help of technology, that is, hearing aids or the cochlear implant and the support of language therapies or the use of Mexican sign language in both options is It is extremely important to involve the entire family 100% to support each other and understand how to communicate with the person living with the disability.
It is important to emphasize that in this podcast we cover all types of hearing disabilities and that is why we have an LSM interpreter, a complete transcript of the episode on the website and subtitles on the YT channel. Well, it is so that everyone can enjoy each of the trips, which is why it also has accessible and inclusive navigation, unique in our country.
We want this project to reach many people to achieve the objective, so it is extremely important that you subscribe to the YouTube channel, activate the notification bell at https://youtube.com/@realityalternativaincluyente everything together and with lowercase letters, which Make comments on the page and share this project with all your people, the more it grows, the more we can help and that is what interests us most at RA. We have valuable information on the page with AMAOIR capsules that can help you learn more about ear care.
I found that With a view to expanding inclusive education for children with disabilities, the Government of Mongolia is gradually implementing measures such as offering an additional bonus to teachers who work with children with disabilities, providing professional training and re-education for teachers and other staff school in inclusive enrollment methods and develop training methods and prepare textbooks, since 2006, 101 teachers have completed the professional reconversion program for pedagogy of children with special needs, in 2018 the Faculty of Special Education of the National University was founded of Education of Mongolia and about 100 students enrolled there.
Now if you like cooking, click the button and if not, keep traveling.
Mongolian food is not characterized by flavor, but on the contrary, it is very simple. In general, the dishes consist of boiled meat with large amounts of fat and flour, and some rice or legumes. The main meat is mutton and yak. In some regions of the country they eat horse meat, I honestly don’t dare eat it and you?
One of the most consumed dishes is buzz, which is a dough filled with meat and steamed. They look like Chinese dumplings, but with a very different flavor and that is what we will cook today.
The classic drink is tea with milk and salt, called süütei tsai (salted tea). It is very common to be offered it when entering a house, especially in the steppe gers.
Nomads widely consume a drink called airag, which is fermented horse milk with 3% alcohol. If that drink is distilled, they produce shimiin arkhi, with 12% alcohol. Some make it with hare and yak milk.
I want to thank Fabiola Ruiz Bedolla, our Mexican Sign Language interpreter and her entire team of collaborators, as well as a very special thank you to Mercedes Obregón, director of the Pedagogical Institute for Language Problems, IPPLIAP. Thank you for joining this project and to all of you for making it possible! Until next time.
