Hello, I am glad to greet you, I am Yael Yancelson and today we are going to live an extreme experience with adventure tourism in a region of Costa Rica called Monte Verde, so breathe, close your eyes and let yourself be guided, we begin.

When it comes to adrenaline, height, vertigo, and extreme emotions, Costa Rica is the best option, so the first stop is Monteverde, a city in the mountainous northwest of Costa Rica. It is recognized for its biodiverse cloud forests. The famous Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is home to countless species of wildlife including jaguars, ocelots, and the resplendent quetzal with colorful feathers. Ferns and orchids can be seen on the reserve’s marked trails, and there are high-suspension bridges that allow you to walk over the forest foliage. This is one of the most privileged places in the world, where more than 2.5% of all the planet’s diversity is concentrated, only in this mountain biodiversity is spectacular. Isn’t that awesome?

The Monteverde Cloud Forest is located in the Tilarán mountain range, in what is known as its western slope. It is a very important destination in terms of ecotourism in the country and looks, they tell us that the most common bird in this place is the quetzal, did you see them? The Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve is one of the first to be created since it was opened in 1972 to serve a number of scientific purposes.

In addition, it is one of the largest, since it has 10,500 hectares.

Now we come to another ideal place to enjoy this exuberant nature from above, it is the suspension bridge that is located in the Monteverde Reserve. We can also contemplate spectacular landscapes and connect with nature in the Santa Elena Reserve, the Curicancha, the Children’s Eternal Forest, or the Monteverde Ecological Sanctuary.

Monteverde is one of the Seven Wonders of the country and was even considered the “jewel in the crown” by National Geographic. It is not uncommon to see a jaguar or a puma lurking in the undergrowth, along with other tropical animals such as monkeys, sloths, snakes, and of course a wide variety of frogs. Costa Rica’s famous red-eyed tree frog can be found if you look closely, and the forest was once home to the elusive golden toad, now thought to be extinct. For a truly unique experience, book a hike night, beginning at sunset. The many nocturnal animals that live in the forest come to life, so keep your eyes peeled for armadillos, spiders, pacas, ocelots, owls, snakes, and more.

In Monteverde Cloud Forest we can enjoy a zip line that will seem to direct you directly to the clouds. Let’s fly over the treetops and you will start to get confused in the fog thanks to its high altitude. Without a doubt, this is one of those activities that we should all do before we die. It gives a really special feeling, like flying and delicious freedom.
